Rhona Levine concentrates her legal practice on Elder Law and Special Needs Planning, Estate Planning and Administration, and advocacy for those who are elderly or have special needs. She takes a holistic approach to the practice of Elder Law, helping find realistic, practical solutions to address legal and other needs of our aging and special needs communities. Drawing on over thirty-five years of substantive legal experience firmly rooted in traditional estate and incapacity planning, and utilizing personal experiences in dealing with many of the same issues within her own family, she has learned how to advocate for the elderly and those with special needs, their families, and their caregivers. Whether planning proactively or planning in crisis, her knowledge and years of experience allow her to provide her clients with the tools needed to “navigate the maze” of challenges faced by the elderly and those with special needs.
After graduating from Antioch University, Ms. Levine received her J.D. with Honors from George Mason University School of Law in 1981, where she was selected for Law Review. She practiced with Robert W. Annand, P.C. in Washington, D.C. for two years prior to returning to Roanoke, where she served as Business Manager for her family’s radio station (WROV AM) for seven years. After starting her family, Ms. Levine returned to the practice of law in 1990 and was with the law firm of Coleman & Massey, P.C. in Roanoke from 2003 until the closing of that office due to retirement of the other attorneys. Ms. Levine joined OPN Law in April of 2019.
Ms. Levine is a Past President of the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, having served on the Board for over a decade. She has served as the Vice-President of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of the Virginia Bar Association and currently co-chairs the Legislative Committees of both VAELA and the VBA Elder Law and Special Needs Section. She is on the boards of Good Samaritan Hospice, the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley, the Public Guardianship Program of the Family Service of the Roanoke Valley, and on the steering committee of Roanoke’s Elder Justice Alliance. She is a member of the Roanoke Valley Estate Planning Council, and of the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (having served as Treasurer of that Chapter for seven years, and is a current director). She has served as Chair of the Board of Community School, and as Vice-President of Beth Israel Synagogue, both in Roanoke.
